It's Almost Time for Bubbly!

Hey, hey... Just a quick post on this rainy NC morning.
I wanted to show you why I was inspired to do this card...

Yep, bathroom redo... in the works, isn't it scary?

I was so tickled that we got this far...
out with the old tub in with the new sparkling white and pretty one.
Then... we had guests for almost a week.
Then... I went and got myself a bum knee and have been forced to sit more than I want to... EVER
So.. I stamped this image and started coloring.

And finished up with this...

How do you like those pearly bubbles?  So girlie, girl, huh?

Thanks for stopping by today... be sure to leave me some love.
I sure "knee'd" it! Almost as much as I "need" my guest bath back!

I'm linking this card up over at 3 Girl Jam Anything goes / With Ribbon challenge.
I received my yummy goodies from 3GirlJam yesterday... can't wait to show you what I got!
Pop on over there and be inspired...
'til next time  ~Donna K

Hello friends...  Thanks for stopping by Created by Donna K today!
I'm so tickled to be part of Pinque Peacock's first ever blog hop!
You should have arrived here from the lovely AJ's {aka An’Jenic} blog
if you didn't that's ok too.
Just head back to Jennifer's Blog and you will be right back on track...
Be sure you follow the rules for your chance to win. I don't want you to miss anything!

For this hop our inspiration was St. Patrick's Day and Luck.
I think my Feelin' Lucky box is "blingin"... don't you?

I painted the box with Grass Green Acrylic Paint.
Added some snazzy layers of black and Shamrock papers.
Wrapped it up with some black polka dot washi tape and ... of course some crinkle ribbon.

The tag base is die cut and embossed with argyle.
I shaded the edges and added 3D adhesive dots to make it "pop"... do we still say pop?
I matted the sentiment sticker on black so it shows up nicely on the green base.

Last but not bling'n least is the rhinestones, pearls and my FAVORITE embellie these days.
The Jade stick pin!  You can get those beauties at the Pinque Peacock shop.
Don'tcha just love 'em?

I hope you've been inspired by my project.
Be happy, Be lucky!

Your next stop is Jessie M.

Now, if you find yourself Hopping off the Path on any of the three days, you can use this Lineup to get back on the Right Track . . .

Enjoy the Journey

Hello, friends!
Thanks for joining me this morning with my very first post as an official "Pinquette"

I chose to make a card for this particular "first post"occasion because....
I love to make cards and I LOVE to celebrate.
"Enjoy the Journey" is the perfect sentiment for this occasion.
This is a new journey for me and also a reminder to enjoy every minute.

For this card I chose a 5 1/2" X 5 1/2" card base.  The base is corrugated and super chunky.
I layered, embossed, textured and placed my papers off center to give it a vintage feel.

I love lots of embellishments on my cards when I'm feeling "vintage-y."
Notice the gold and aqua stick pin to the left of the clock?
My NEW FAVORITE embellishment...thank you very much Pinque Peacock!
{Find them ... Here }

I enjoy decorating the insides of my cards with coordinating papers.  It is totally not necessary but I find it a fun surprise for most people when they open the card and the inside is pretty as well.
It also takes away from my shotty penmanship!

Thank you for letting me share today.

I hope you enjoy your journey as you get to know all of the new "Pinquettes"!

Be happy and Smile!

Blessed Beyond Measure

Did you ever stop and think just how much beauty you can apply to a simple, inexpensive composition book?  You know what they are, right?  Those black and white booklets.... the kind you see at the beginning of every single school year?

This project was my little labor of love applied to a composition book.  It has become a diary, journal...sketch pad or whatever your little heart desires.

I lined the insides and back with coordinating
"measuring tape" papers.

I added a front inner pocket and book mark tag.

I linked up this project in the

I LOVE crinkle ribbon and they had a killer sale last week so... when my order arrives I will be officially stocked up on
3GJ ribbon in nearly every color!

Pop over there and see all of the amazing projects.

Enjoy your day today!

How Lucky Are You?

Lucky Banner Tutorial

Well hello there fellow paper crafters, it's Dawn from JadeMingmei Designs!  I'm so thrilled that Donna asked me to do a special guest post on CreatedbyDonnak!  Not only is Donna a talented crafter, but she is also a very dear, personal friend of mine!  We've known each other for many, many years and we've kept in touch even when our husbands military careers have kept us separated!  We were separated again last summer when we left North Carolina for our new home in Okinawa, Japan.  We certainly did not want to leave our home and great friends, but sometimes the military has other 'plans' for your life...even when expecting another baby!  Needless to say, modern technology is a wonderful thing!  We still laugh(cackle) and carry on about the latest and greatest products in paper crafting!

These days my 'play' time is very slim and my hands full...very full!  We have 3 littles, Jack 10 months, Gracie 9, and Addison 6.  I try to squeeze in some creative time somewhere between naptime and bedtime!  With limited time, I find I'm much more organzied and I have a better sense of direction on projects vs. just pulling out said supplies and staring at them thinking, 'gee, what will I make to day?'  You know the exact feeling, yes?!  So with that being said, I don't want to prolong this entry!  Let's get to crafting, shall we?

If you're not familiar with my work, banners are one of my favorites!  It's like scrap booking and card making all-in-one!  I also love to use 'rosettes' on my banners.  The rosettes really add a lot of depth and texture vs. a 'flat' banner.  Grab your supplies and let's GO!

Step 1:  Cut 2 strips of gold card stock @ 1.5 x 8 1/4.  Scor @ every 1/4 mark.
Step 2:  Once you have your two strips taped together, it's time to gather the rosette into a tight circle.  It will flip and flop about, just hold it down tight.  Apply hot glue around the middle and cover with a scrap piece of card stock.  Don't worry about what this piece looks like, it's getting covered up...really soon!
Step 4:  Flip over the rosette and repeat the hot glue steps for the backside.  It's much easier to do the backside because you won't have to hold tightly for gluing.  Voila, easy peasy!  Now the fun part begins...decorating!
Step 5:  I normally keep the bottom of my cards flat, but I thought I might try something new!  I'm glad I did, because I love the chevron cut on the bottom.  If you'd like to try this, it will take a few passes on the Big Shot because of the multiple paper layers.
I was trying to capture the subtle shimmer of the gold card stock here!  This shot did however pick up the wonderful glitter on the lettering!  I used some glitter glue to 'paint' the letters.  FUN!
Thank you for allowing me to share something fun!  I hope this inspires YOU to make something homemade, whether it be for your home, family, or friends...it's 'a good thing'!

Happy Crafting!
Dawn ;)

Proud as a Little Pinque Peacock

3 Girl Jam Challenge - 3 D Valentine

Hello,  Sunshines!

I love to browse the $ spot at Target.  I know I shouldn't, there {usually} isn't ONE single thing I need there, but it's just so cool... All that cutesy stuff that I just "have to have because I can do something with it" catches my eye every time.

A few years ago I became obsessed with these little mail boxes.  They are so cute, hold so many different things, great for any occasion... on and on... and ON!  To make a long story short... I collected them.  17.. yes SEVENTEEN... of them ended up in my stash drawer!  This year I was determined to make a few as gifts. You know, my whole 2013 *use up what I have* challenge.

Below you'll see how that plain little tin mail box ended up.
I think it's super cute and I hope my sister enjoys it!  I know she will love the Lindor Chocolates inside.

I've linked up my altered mail box to the

The super talented group over at  3 Girl JAM are having a pretty sweet challenge going on right now.  So when you're done here, be sure to check them out for some really amazing
Valentine Ribbon-y ideas!

I hope you've been inspired or challenged or BOTH.
