Altered Gifts

Ok...so, most of my friends and family know that I LOVE creating altered note pads. Composition note pads can be found at just about any department or office supply store and with a little imagination, some adhesive and pretty paper you will have the perfect gift for the person that loves to write.

Start out with a standard composition pad. Any size will work.

This one is from is from Office max and is usually under $2.00.

Choose your designer paper and card stock.  You'll need:

2 pieces of paper cut 7" X 9 3/4". Be sure to measure your book and cut accordingly.
2 pieces cut 7 1/2" X 9 3/4" (if you want the inside lined)

Add adhesive around the edges ( I prefer scor tape or using the Scotch ATG with acid free tape)

Once the covers are in place you can distress the edges for a vintage look if you choose.

You can add stamped sentiments, metal embellishments, ribbons.....the options are endless.
{{The stamp set on this owl note pad is from papertreyink.}}

This is one that I created recently .......  because OWLS are so cool right now.

Thanks for letting me share today.  Now I really MUST work on that Christmas list!

Today is a good day.  Sunny and beautiful, crisp...cool weather but not freezing at the moment AND
I get to venture to Raleigh with Big Joe & Sandie to meet up with a silly bunch of fun people to enjoy a Carolina Hurricanes Game.  Hockey is a big deal at our house and one of the ONLY sports I care to watch in person or on the telly.

I just thought I'd mention...I feel very fortunate and blessed to have good health, friends and family in my life to share these fun times with.

Let's Go Canes!!!

Enjoy your day...enjoy your life, it's the only one you get!

12 Days of December Blog Party with Einat Kessler

I came across a post on Facebook that mentioned a "blog party"
I thought...why not?!  Everyone loves a party, right?

Click here to find out more about this party and to join in on the inspiration and the fun! Day two has been posted and Einat Kessler is so talented I just know you'll love following along.

For our Day 2 mission our task was to write about our funniest or weirdest holiday dinner.  I can't say that I can even think of a weird one or even one that is all that hilarious...kinda boring, huh?!  We have Seafood Gumbo and Cheesy rolls every Christmas.  Some people think that is "weird" because it's not the usual traditional meal.  However...we LOVE it and I LOVE that my hubby prepares it!  So...if Seafood Gumbo is funny or weird...perhaps I'll win today's prize?!

Hope your day has been wonderful.

Easy Peasy Yummy Sandwich Cookie Recipe

I thought I'd share this amazingly simple cookie recipe.  I make these every year at holiday time.  They always seem to be a favorite no matter who tries them.

I picked up this recipe on the Taste Of Home website.

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 sleeve (4 ounces) round butter-flavored crackers
  • 1 cup white, semisweet, or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon shortening

  • Spread peanut butter on half of the crackers; top with
  • remaining crackers to make sandwiches. Refrigerate.
  • In a double boiler over simmering water, melt
  • chocolate chips and shortening, stirring until smooth.
  • Dip sandwiches and place on waxed paper until chocolate hardens.

  • Yield: 9 servings.

Warning....you will not be able to eat just ONE!
