All things Beautiful

I'm not quite sure what it is about butterflies that make them so absolutely beautiful...they just are.  Graceful, quiet, lovely, they just float through the air and give us something to enjoy.  I did some yard work this week and stopped several times to watch the butterflies (and bees) hovering around the azaleas in the yard.    In the midst of yard work, thoughts of a crazy weekend of bad weather and wreckage from tornados that struck Eastern, NC.   I felt so lucky that I was able to enjoy the peaceful, calm, serenity of butterflies.

This journal is altered with Tim Holtz paper, stamps, ink and hardware.  Notice the "T" for Thoughts Token hanging from the sentiment?  Love it...   I used rhinestones and the butterfly pendant from Recollections for depth.  Ribbon is a satin beige color on top of the scalloped layers of black and blue papers.   On the edge of the book I added a grommet and ribbon for easy opening.

The die set I used to cut the sentiment is a spellbinders set called Labels Eight.

Thank you for joining me today.

Enjoy the Ride

I'm sure that there are a lot of you out there who will come across my blog and not know that we love cycling in my family.  Well...we do.  Our next "big ride" is the Tour De Pickle in Mount Olive, NC coming up at the end of the month.  Yes...they make pickles in Mount Olive!

Whether it be bicycle or motorcycle, we just love to ride.  My husband is an avid cyclist.  He has the higher end bike  (not top of the line, mind you) ...this is just my opinion.  *as if you couldn't tell*  All this is leading up to me saying that...the bike you see on this journal and cards would be more likely what you might see me tooling around on.  I just loved this paper (jillibean soup) when I saw it.  Actually,  my friend Dwayne pointed it out to me at Archiver's in Raleigh and I just had to have it!

I've been trying my hand at altering these journals and so far they are not my "thang" but I enjoy giving anything a try.  This is what I came up with.    The stamp is a set from PTI and it's called  Every Day Button Bits.  I added the buttons, hand stitching them to the paper to keep from falling off.  The bicycle is all slicked up with Diamond Glaze to add that extra shine.

I'm off to Raleigh to visit friends for the rest of the weekend.  I hope your weekend is grand.  If you have a bike, hop on and go for a ride.  You're sure to smile, there's nothing like it!  Enjoy the ride...

Spring Basket

It's hard for me to believe we are actually full into spring.  The flowers are in bloom and the pollen is fading away which means SUMMER will be here before we know it.  For now...I'm enjoying spring and all the activities going on in our community.  I made this basket for a dear friend who was helping out with a fundraiser for the local Rotary Club.

You'll notice there's a mixture in there...a note pad...yes...created by moi  {{moi |mwä|exclamation (usu. moi?) humorous me? (used esp. when accused of something that one knows one is guilty of)}}

....some absolutely fantastic Iced Pineapple lotion that you can purchase from a sweet gal up in Michigan from ShirtShack. A pen, fun and bright along with a tealight candle and holder.

 Last but not least, a tag that I made to go along with the springy theme.  Seeds again?!  Yes, it IS spring time ya'll!   Enjoy your day and be sure to take a minute to smell those newly blooming flowers in your area.

Victory is Always Possible

Relay for life is everywhere these days and I have no problem with that!  I lost my grand mother to cancer many years ago so this is a cause near to my heart.    A few of our friends walked in the Relay in Jacksonville, NC last weekend.  Way to go girls...you know who you are!

My friend Bobbi is a survivor in many ways and this card was inspired by her.  She's a strong woman with a heart of gold and a wonderful attitude about life.

Purple is a bold color to work with but I like how it played out with the brown and kraft cardstock.  I think the Prima flowers really softened the look.  I only made one of the 3x5 size note pads, but my wheels are turning.  I might work on a few more of these later today.

Tag...You're IT!

Who knew that opening an ETSY store would be so......FUN?  Not sure if FUN is the word but it has been an interesting day for me.  I have posted some of the tags that I had displayed at the recent craft show.  My thinking is that if I opened this shop then I'd perhaps sell a few more things to make room for the new stock as I complete my projects.  See how that works?  I can't make more if I don't have room to store it, right?  No, not really but...it's a nice thought.

The pictures I've posted are of the items that were some of my personal favorites.  I hope you enjoy looking as much as I enjoyed making them.    Also, keep in mind how much these tags can come in handy.  They are great for adding to a wine bottle for a hostess or birthday gift.  You can apply them to a scrapbook page or even send them as they are with a note on back.

I have one that was given to me displayed on a jar in my kitchen that was created by my sweet friend Dawn at Jademingmei Designs click the link for the post that includes the one she made for me.

So, the possibilities are endless.  If you have any questions or are interested in purchasing any of my items drop me a note.

Have a splendid day...

One More Day

I will be at the Hidden Talents Spring Craft Show for one more day.  Sunday April 3 from 12-4pm.  It's on Camp Lejeune at Marston Pavilion and it is open to the public.  You will need to stop and get a base pass though.

I had a lot of fun yesterday.  Socializing and hearing all about what people are interested in.  {{I did buy a few things too. *GASP*  How does one make a profit if she spends it on other treasures!?! }}

So, for you local friends who didn't get a chance to come out yesterday, stop by today and say hello.

More updates this coming week.  Stay tuned......
