Mini Legal Pads & Other Goodies

This is an idea that I've seen on several blogs.  I just love it...so cute and handy.  What an awesome little gift, eh?  I added the small gel pen and plan on doing more of these pads for an upcoming craft show.  I've heard that Spring shows are not nearly as busy as holiday ones, but I am loving the preparation and excitement of doing projects like these to sell.

Make it Monday Vellum Strip Challenge from Papertrey Ink

This week's challenge is to use a strip of vellum paper with a sentiment.  I came up with this.....

Paper:  Craft cardstock, Bright Yellow and Umbrella  from Rusted Sun {Fancy Pants}
Ink:  Tuxedo Black

I guess I was inspired by Nichole's use of the big flower on the video.  This is a bright and cheery card, reminiscent of summer which is right around the corner...right?!  *fingers are crossed*  Be sure to stop by PTI and check out all the entires for Make it Monday.  There are some gorgeous creations posted already.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and please drop me a comment if you have a second.

In search of a 4 leaf clover...

MFTWSC7 has inspired me to pull out my bag of shamrock papers for the challenge this week.  I'm having a fun time playing along each week and it has really motivated me to created something each week.  There are so many fun challenges out there, but MFT is one of my FAVORITE.  If you haven't been to their site, you really should.

This weeks sketch.....

My creation.....

I chose a pink background for the base of this card.  It's hard to see the teeny pink flowers within the shamrocks in my photo but they are there...promise.  The green cardstock is from MFT and the sweet cuttlebug embossing plate added the texture.   The sentiment is from a MFT Clearly Sentimental set.  There are some really beautiful (and fun) sentiments in those sets.  If you haven't picked one up, you should.

The design paper is Day Dream Believer a beautiful paper by Heidi Grace Design.  It's shimmery and soft.  The shamrock rhinestone on the tag is just another reminder that spring is on the way.

Enjoy your day wherever you are.

Think Spring...

The weather man says it's going to be in the 60's next week.  I will not complain about that even once, promise!  We had snow again yesterday, maybe an inch or so...  Eeeks!  An inch is nothing compared to other parts of the country COVERED in it, but it's a lot for Eastern NC.  They closed schools and people were able to go into work late, makes for a lazy morning at my house.

So.....as I watched the flurries yesterday I was day dreaming about spring.  I've been having so much fun with tag making I thought I'd try another one.    I saw one someone's blog out there somewhere that they used bookmarks for a different style of tag.  Last year I purchased a package of bookmarks with the idea to created LOTS of book marks and, guess what?  Didn't do it!  Well, that is ok because I've found a great way to use them up now!  I had a warning from Karen earlier this week about tags....because they can be addicting to a paper crafter.

Supplies for this tag:

basic grey paper and buttons
flower ~ Recollections
Stamp ~ MFT  About You Sentiment
Ink ~ Stampin' Up

What a sweet surprise !!!  Yay!! Melissa dropped off the Stylish Blogger award for me so I thought I'd say....THANKS for making me smile!  I'm supposed to tell you 8 things about myself then nominate 8 bloggers.  Here are the rules.

Upon receiving this award I must thank the person who gave this to me and link it back to their blog and share 8 things about myself. Also, pass along the award to 8 other individuals that I have recently discovered and leave a comment so that they can pass along the recognition.

Let's do this!!

***  I am a stay at home wife of a guy named Joe who is my best friend in the whole wide world.
**  My favorite color is blue, like the ocean and the sky on a perfect summer day.
***  French Fries are my weakness.
**  I spent a total of 7 years on the island of Okinawa, Japan.  Yep, I loved it!
***  My kids are all adults now and I like all three of them a LOT.  They turned out pretty darn good.
**  I drink coffee...a lot...it makes me warm and fuzzy.
***  On any given day you might find me at home, in my sweat pants or pj's making a card or a  scrapbook page.
**  Sometimes I ride my bike and it makes me smile.  I once rode 78 miles to raise money for MS.

Now for the blogs I'm passing along this award to.....There is no particular order. These are blogs I visit and enjoy.  Please visit them and check out their work.

Have a marvelous Day!!!   ~donna K

Call Me!

Ok girlfriends....you know there is someone in your life who probably needs a phone call today, right?

Here's a card that I created for the MFTWSC6.   I think she's the perfect reminder of how important it is to keep in touch with those we love and care about.  I put the sample below of the sketch so you have an idea what I'm talking about if you've never been part of a challenge.  I turned my card on the side, but other wise tried to stay close to the theme for the week.

I used Basic Grey paper from the "hopscotch" series.  It's so springy and light hearted..I'm lovin' it.  Kraft cardstock is the base of the card.  The stamp is from MFT  {Hey, It's Been a While}   Paper piecing is always fun so I just cut out her pants and the chair.  I thought she should have a phone that says...HI so I made that just a little brighter and put some Glaze on it so make it shine. It is almost the same color as the buttons in the corner.  Of course the tag says..  Call Me...but... Does anyone even have a phone with a cord on it anymore?

Again...another fun sketch to work from.  This has been a GREAT way to get stocked up on cards.

Smile...  ~donnaK

Gift Tags For You!

There was this beautiful pad of paper by K&Co that I spotted a few months back.  I NEVER used it until last night.  I'm pretty tickled with the way these turned out.  Elegant with a touch of vintage.

I am going to post these for sale as a set.  If you'd like more information let me know.  All three tags are the same size.  Approximately 2 1/4" X 4 1/2".  They are plain on the back so you can add a note.  They are great to use as an add on to a gift bag or can be sent as is.

I'm in love with these sunflowers.  I used to be a huge collector of anything sunflower.  I had a kitchen FULL of them at one point.  I've toned it down but still can't resist them every now and again.

How about those bumble bees?  A sure sign that spring is on the way!

I don't have anything crafty to post today, but...it is a beautiful day today.  The temps are getting warmer and the days are getting longer which for me means...SPRING is near.

My hubby put up a full glass storm door in our foyer this weekend.  How wonderful to shed some light into our darkened entry way!  Our pooch Teddy has been loving it too.  He forgot it was there and lunged after a squirrel first thing this morning.  I don't think HE was laughing as hard as I was.  As you can see in this pic...he's telling me to "hush it!"

Time to get baking those cookies that I promised our soldier son.  He already forgave me that I didn't do it last week!

Have a happy day today...

February = Birthdays!

This lil sweetie is so fun !! Here I go again with the pink and green..sorry...I just can't help myself.  This is just one of several cards I've created for the month of February.  It seems February is the month for LOVE and BIRTHDAYS.

The design paper is DCWV.  It's a pad called Garden Party Stack.  I think the green gingham is too cute though.  I added scalloped flowers and some rhinestones for my bling.  The stamp is Flower Girl by Pure Innocence..another MFT item.  Add a satin bright pink ribbon and there she is.

I used the MFTWSC as the inspiration for my layout.  Their sketches are super neato and I love to play along.  I think I may have uploaded my cards a little too late this week, though. Oh well...I'm getting that much needed practice with my creations.
