Something girlie.

Happy Friday my friends!  What a week this has been.  I don't even know where Monday went this week, do you?  That's not all bad, I suppose.  Means I got a lot accomplished, right?!  right????

A few weeks ago a very sweet friend asked me to cover up her plain ole note book with something girlie.  She truly is a girlie girl so I thought these colors would be nice for her.  She's also a lefty so the spiral at the top are her most favorite type of pads to write on.

If you read through my blog at all, you'll notice that I've been a note pad fan since day one of my class with my bestie best crafting bud, Dawn Chau!  That first spiral had me hooked.  It's fun because you can cover just about anything to make it your style and many of them can be reused on a new pad once you've used up your paper.

So...this pad in particular is a 8 1/2" x 11"....my largest one yet.  I used a paper pad from We R Memory Keepers called Tiffany's.  It's cute and pink and cheery just like my friend Diane (AND if you check the site, it's on clearance right now.) I spaced out a few different patterns over the bright pink polka dot bazzill card stock.

I added the little tag, stacked some die cut circles and flower and added some ribbons.  I can't even remember where the pink and green ribbon actually came from....sorry.   It looks like it was stitched but, it's just attached with the super strong Scor tape.  The monogram is a chipboard silvery piece that adds some bling.

That's it for me today folks.  We are having a small dinner party tonight so I must get busy on that Flour-less Chocolate Cake.  My first attempt, but I've had it and it is soooooo Yummy!  I hope I can do it justice.

Stay tuned for a post this weekend with a floral card set I created this week.

Vintage Valentines

This is a Valentine that I created from a K & Co Valentine pad.  It is a 4x4 card with Kraft paper.  I added the Red Bazzil and some distressing ink around the edges.  Topped it off with a pretty crocheted flower created by my friend Angela at Off the Hook.  I just added the red button for some punch.  This was just a quick and easy card, but I think it turned out quite pretty.

Are you ready for your Valentine?

The Little People in my Life

Once again we are invaded by freezing temps and icky weather in Eastern, NC.  I am not complaining all that loudly because it's a great time to stay inside, stay warm,  cozy and finish up a few things for the "Little People" in my life.

Most of you who know me, know that I have 3 younger siblings.  My youngest sister and brother have "Little" people, which for me means 8 & under.  I've always loved sending small packages to family and friends who are far away.  (Being a military family we've always had family who lived in other states.) My three children always LOVED getting mail and packages...who doesn't, right?!

So...to keep a long post.... not so long I wanted to just pop up these photos of the card (one of several) and treats I am sending out this year.

I was inspired by my dear friend Dawn as I often am.  She's over at Jade Mingmei Designs if you get a chance hop on over there and say hi.  She posted some 4x4 notes and mentioned that she had never created those before.  I thought, how fun....so...here is my first 4x4 card.  It is a mish/mosh of supplies.  Kraft cardstock, with red bazzil to accent the MJ - I {heart} You paper.  It's from Dream Street Papers and oh so cute for Valentine's Day.  The back side has very pretty paisley print too that could be used any time.  I used some scrap ribbon and the red button for "flair" is from Basic Grey.  The little LOVE that you see across the bottom is a mini clear set from Kaiser Craft called "With Love".  Last but not least is the little squirrel on the top with the google eyes.  K & Co assorted pack.  I thought the silly eyes were perfect for a younger person's card.  I added some "diamond" Stickles to her and there you have it! Fun stuff...

The treats are actually just small Pepperidge Farms bags of goldfish goodies.  I made the top by cutting a 3 x 4 piece of cardstock.  I stamped the puppy and Happy Valentine's Day, added some colored card stock to make it stand out and viola!  Same for the Bee Happy.  Definitely not my idea, but fun either way and the kids are going to love it.

That's it for now...time to get back to work.  Stay warm and enjoy your weekend!

Things to Do

I have quite a list of "things to do" this week. It seems like when I'm in my creating mode everything else gets pushed aside.  You know, things like dusting and running the sweeper.  Dust bunnies are friendly creatures, right?!  I promise it's not too messy around here.  You see...I just had to play with these new papers I purchased at our local scrapbook store........which to my great sadness is going out of business this month.   {{Maybe I need to start my own to do list in one of these note pads I've made recently!!}}

This pad created with Basic Grey papers.  This particular collection is labeled CURIO.  It is beautiful and as always there are so many embellishments to go along with the papers.  The "note to self" is from Papertrey Ink.

I thought this spiral looked somewhat like spring time, don't you?  We could use some spring time weather for sure.  I'm not used to these COLD temperatures.  I think that's why we chose North Carolina as our "retirement" state.  Warm, sunny skies...not this!!  At least the sun is shining, right?!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.  If you have time leave a comment or two...it's always nice to know what people are thinking.

Snow Day

It started snowing around 6:30 am in New Bern.  As I sipped my coffee and watched all the closings scroll across the screen on the news I was thinking...sounds like a great day to create a thing or two.  My hubby and two of our three kids are at home with us today.  I put on a roast for dinner and started on a note pad, one of my MOST favorite things to create.

This note pad is one of the 5 crafts I agreed to make as a resolution on facebook.  I posted it to my status so I must complete it, right?  I have to make 5 things to send to 5 people this year, the catch was...the first 5 people to comment on my status and then post the same thing to their facebook status will get the "prizes".

I used paper from Basic Grey, "Things to Do" stamp is from Papertrey Ink, the hardware is from Stampin' Up...the spiral pad is a 4x6 from staples.  The "antique" lace was just a little addition for some texture on the finished project.  I am not sure who's getting this one just yet.  I have 4 more things to make so I better get moving.

If you are as lucky as we are to have a "Snow Day"  stay warm and cozy....

Hippie Happy Birthday- SFYTT

Two posts in one day? Guess I'm trying to make up for the lack of crafting over the holidays. It has been a gloomy day here, perfect for coffee and crafting. I am giving the SFYTT a whirl with this card. The inspiration photo is a black hat with sort of a hippie flair. That's where I came up with the colors and peace signs on this card. I think I'm a flower child at heart.

The Stamp and Die from Papertrey Ink. The paper is doodlebug design, inc. I used kraft cardstock for the card and added a piece of yellow grosgrain ribbon to tie it all together for a colorful finish.

Be sure to check out The Cat's Pajamas for more information on this post. I don't have ANY of their products, but have been *window* shopping!

2011 Here we GO!

I've been re-organizing and sorting paper, surfing blogs, and facebook pages. There are many fresh new ideas out there and so much to keep up with.

I decided to try my hand at a challenge that was posted on the MFT blog.

It's actually called Wednesday Stamp Club Getting Sketchy in 2011.

This is my first time trying this type of challenge. It was pretty fun and sparked me to get going on my other Valentines. Check out the challenge for a fun way to get inspired and share you work with other crafters.

The card is on white card stock. I used Sour Apple paper from MFT, Kraft cardstock stamped with PTI polka dots for the background. The Red is from Bazill and it has polka dots on it. I used “scraps” for this card so I don’t have the company name for all of the paper.

My stamp was from MFT Pure Innocence-Flower Girl. I just took a metal heart and placed it over the flower in her hand to keep in line with my Valentine / Love theme.

I took a photo of some of my supplies so you can see some of what is involved in a card like this.

Now to get started on those Valentines I am working on for my nieces and newphew in Indiana.

Where to Begin?

Good Morning from Eastern, NC! It's 24 degrees here today, big switch from the weekend temps of nearly 65 degrees! Coffee is in hand so... I thought I'd sit down and update my blog real quick and do a some catching up before I get busy around here.

As I unloaded all of my crafty stuff from the closet yesterday I was a tad bit overwhelmed and a LOT excited. I did a "little" shopping over the holidays and stocked up on some great goodies. My Papertrey Ink order came in yesterday and I am really looking forward to getting things put away from Christmas and starting on my "to do" list of projects for this coming year.

Notice I have some Valentine Paper and a really cute stamp set from Pink Paislee? Love is in the air! Valentine projects are first on my list. I promised my niece Valentine's for her class this year.

Aperture 3 and a new lens for Christmas.......yippee for me. Now there are two more reasons I have NO excuses to get my scrapbooks completed. Right? Right.

Whatever it is that you do today...make it a good day. Thanks for stopping by.
